The official currency in Vietnam is the Vietnam Dong, symbolised by ₫ or VND. Vietnamese notes are a mix of small paper bills (no coins are used), and larger polymer bills, in values from 10,000 VND to 500,000 VND. If you’re confused by all the zeros, mentally remove three zeros to get a simpler number. To quickly convert from VND to USD, just remove three zeros and divide by 24.Visitors to Vietnam can bring with them unlimited amounts of foreign currency, objects made of gold, silver, precious metals and gemstones or plated with silver or gold, but these must be declared in detail on their customs forms
US dollar is a widely accepted currency in Vietnam and most goods and services can be paid for in Dongs or Dollars. It is good to carry a combination of both at all times. It is also preferable if the dollar bills are in good condition as many businesses may refuse to accept worn out notes.
While cash is used for small purchases and street vendors in Vietnam, most establishments accept payments from major credit card providers such as Visa. Hotels, tour operators, boutiques, restaurants, grocery stores, and spas all generally accept international debit and credit cards. Conversion rates and swiping fees will be set by your card provider. With few exceptions, your larger travel expenses in Vietnam can be covered by card, on the spot or online in advance, reducing the need to carry and convert large sums of cash on the road

"This was our first time visiting Vietnam, and we’re so glad we booked with AsiaMystika. Ms. Jade was super helpful from the very beginning — always quick to respond and happy to adjust the itinerary to match what we were looking for. Everything was smooth: airport pickups, hotel check-ins, and daily tours all went exactly as planned. Our guide in Ninh Binh was fantastic and made the boat ride feel even more special with his stories. We felt completely looked after, and the whole trip was stress-free and full of great memories. Would definitely recommend"
Our family had part of our trip plan with Mr.Arthur this past March 2025. He helped setup all our pickups from airports to hotels and arrange all our in-flights within Việt Nam. He also customized four trips between Hanoi, Danang, Hoian including the Ha Long Bay cruise. We could not be happier with the travel agency. All our day trips was customized to what we really want and sometimes modify at last minute. Mr.Arthur always try very hard to help us. If you want a more private tour group, they are the best. Best listener and patience with all my questions before the trip. I cannot thank the team enough for a great trip especially Arthur who was always making sure everything is going well. Thank you 😊
"Asia Mystika were absolutely amazing and listened to our brief very well. They were very quick to respond and suggest options for us. The itinerary they came up with was exactly as we wanted, including many off the beaten track activities, which we would otherwise have not done. We had a fairly tight schedule and wanted to see Hanoi, Da Nang and Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh, as well as end with some beach relaxation. This was all achieved, the drivers and tour guides were wonderful, with fabulous English, and modern, clean and safe vehicles and drivers. Communication with them was fast and fantastic, even when having to change our plans last minute. Highly recommended and we will be recommending to our friends and family."
We just spent the best 3 weeks in Vietnam. Asia Mystika organized an amazing itinerary. Mr.Billy coordinated everything so perfectly from the booking to the last day of our trip. Billy welcomed us in Hanoi in person with gifts. He thought about every details (birthday celebrations and anniversary). He checked on how it was going every time we were in a different region. Every private guides and drivers were very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and made sure we had the best time. The hotels were very nice. We discovered three regions and loved each of them. We really learned a lot about the culture. We finished our busy trip with 4 nights on Phu Quoc island which was perfect place to relax. The highlight was the 2 nights cruise in Halong Bay on the Legend dragon. We loved every part of the trip. Really everything was wonderful and we got a great travel experience We would highly recommend the agency. Thank you Billy for your planning.
"Our second experience with Asia Mystika, would definitely use them again. Itineraries are personalized, and reflect the requirements of each traveler. The organization is second to none. From being met at the Saigon airport (when we were very late) to being transported to and from our tours in modern ac vehicles. The guides were freindly, professional and informative. Loved every moment, can’t wait to return, thanks Mr.Billy and AsiaMystika team"
